Ethiopia - Rumudamo - Natural

Blueberries, Jasmine, Passion Fruit

Rumudamo is a small woreda in Arbegona, Sidama. This coffee is grown here, at altitudes of 2200m in the highland areas before being processed at the Rumudamo station, managed by Asefa Dukamo Korma of Daye Bensa. Currently, the station works with 600 farmers and annually harvests around 350,000kg of coffee which is processed mostly into washed and in a lesser amount, into natural coffees like this one.

The area is prized for its high quality coffee, with 2020s Cup of Excellence Award Winner of both 2nd and 3rd place coming from Rumudamo. Coffee is the main cash crop in this area, though many other crops grow here such as sugar cane, false banana, spices and vegetables.

Daye Bensa, who run the station, was established in 1996, beginning their journey producing and supplying coffee. By 2006, they began exporting high quality coffee for the global market. They worked over the years to improve and automate their systems and procedures in order to expand. They now own 16 washing stations and 4 dry mills in the Bensa, Aroressa, and Chire districts of Sidama.

Daye Bensa have three warehouses with a total capacity of 4400 sq.m in Hawassa and five in Addis Ababa with a capacity of 5000 sq.m where their modern export coffee cleaning plant is situated. The plant has pre-cleaner, de-stoner, huller, polisher, grader, and handpicking belt facilities with a 4ton/hr capacity. Their colour sorter from SATAKE is of the latest camera technology, sorting beans with higher sensitivity to remove defects  with maximum efficiency.
