Since scoring our B-Corp certification initially in 2020, we have lots to share about what has happened from then on. It was so motivating to join the B-Corp community and be rewarded for our commitment from the beginning.
Also, seeing the B-Corp community grow bigger every year in Scotland feels super inspiring from being one of the first organisations to certify, we are now a local community of 55 and counting and a UK wide community of over 1500!
Being devoted from the start to further improve our score and activities using the assessment as a guideline.
In December 2024, we officially recertified for our B-Corp assessment and we were pleased to see that our commitment to sustainable and social effort paid off as we increased our score by 33 points. We believe that with our devotion to the Planet, People and our Product we can strive to be up at the top of the best in the coffee roasting industry. In the assessment we have to demonstrate our commitment to customers, community, governance, employee and environmental impact.
Starting out with reassessing our environmental figures doubled! But of course this is not about collection points to reach a high score, B Corp is about changing business practices towards an environmental and ethical stance down to the core. Becoming B-Corp means to change for Articles of Association become a business aiming for good.
We go beyond. We’ve always been dedicated to coffee quality and ethics to our business’s core. We hosted a B Local Scotland event at our roastery in September 2023 and are very excited to share our story and connect with Scottish B Corps. By being part of the supportive B-Corp community we have progressed our social and environmental policies, plans and actions more than we thought possible in the last 4 years of being a B-Corp and so many businesses joining the B-Corp movement now, we are excited about what is more to come in 2025.
