We re-certified for 1% For The Planet! These are our environmental partner:
As part of 1% for the Planet, we aim to support local Scottish environmental partners as well as projects directly linked to our coffee supply chain who are dedicated to making an impact. We want to share who we support and introduce the work they are doing. These are all organisations that we have a personal connection, from Bute Forest to Greenheart Growers. We carefully chose all of these partners and admire the work they do.
Last year we supported Bute Forest for the first time which allowed them to purchase more than 1,000 Scots Pine trees for their 23/24 replanting season - their program is designed to reforest Bute’s former Spruce & Larch plantation area. The Scots Pine (along with Juniper, Aspen, Hazel, Oak etc.) will create a new broadleaf habitat - boosting the ecological footprint of the forest, creating a carbon-positive new habitat for enjoyment by flora and fauna, and by future generations. This year we supported funding the salary of the Bute Forest Ranger, ensuring the forest is being looked after for the years to come.
Bute Forest is personal to Dear Green’s heart not only because Lisa, our founder, was born on Bute but also because one of our wholesale partners are based there and are caffeinating the island with our delicious specialty coffee!

Wash House Garden
Wash House Garden, located in the east of Glasgow describes its missions as “a desire to feel a sense of mutual support and solidarity in a society in which communities have been decimated across the generations, and to grow and eat delicious food that nourished body and soul, soil and planet despite our globalised, environmentally damaging, and frankly bland modern food system.” and we couldn't say it better.
Between giving our hours for volunteering and giving regular donations, the Wash House Garden is one of our long-standing environmental partners and we are happy to see them flourish from hosting weaving workshops, to keeping a bee hive or producing their seasonal veg boxes.

Recyke-a-bike
One of our newer partners is based in Stirling and has been very engaged with us to get to know them better. Our first-time donation contributed to finance recycling bikes which saved them from landfill, customer bike repairs and bike-ability training for students and children. This also enabled some children to own their first bike and learn how to ride.
We see bikes not only as an environmental benefactor but also as a tool for social inclusion, therefore we are happy to support recycle-a-bike’s mission.

Greenheart Growers
Greenheart Growers at Craigencalt Farm, by Kinghorn Loch, is an eco-friendly growing community farm, which produces with no pesticides, and supplies restaurants, cafes and locals. With our organic Dear Green City Blend we have been supporting them by donating £1 with every purchased bag of coffee.

Bike for Good
Bike for Good is a charity and social enterprise which started in July 2010 in a small stall in Glasgow’s Barras market. With a few donated bikes, a cobbled-together tool kit and a team of volunteers with a huge amount of passion and drive, Bike for Good (then known as Glasgow Bike Shed) was born!
