What’s your name and where are you from?
Lisa, from Glasgow
What does a day at Dear Green look like for you?
Pretty varied! No two days are the same and generally involve me cupping, packing, delivering, roasting, admin, catching up with colleagues or customers or working on events, on marketing, or researching new ideas. Pretty much anything that needs done!
How do you like to brew? Do you have any brewing tips?
I generally brew filter coffee on a pour over or Aeropress at home. My tip is really basic, use a grinder and scales to create consistently great brews. Buy great coffee and grind freshly and to the appropriate grind size for every cup. Use scales to control coffee to water ratios. Controlling your brew recipe will greatly improve the quality of your beverage and in turn will enhance your coffee sipping life! Guaranteed!
What’s your favourite Dear Green coffee?
It changes all of the time depending on what season we are in. I'm pretty loyal to coffee producers I have visited. Right now I'm a big fan of Ethiopian coffee and our 'Odaco' from the Daye Bensa cooperative in Sidama. It's absolutely delicious! We've bought from them for years and I was lucky enough to visit in 2023.
What’s your favourite thing about speciality coffee?
The wonderful diversity and quality of flavours, the never ending learning curve, the people it brings together and the relationships made locally and internationally.
What do you like most about working for a B Corporation?
That people and planet come before profit. Nothing beats that!
Aside from coffee, what are your passions?
Running, Yoga, Gigs, Art, Nature, Travel, Cooking up a storm!
If you could have coffee with anyone in the world, who would it be and why?
It would be pretty cool to have a brew with Nick Cave or maybe Melinda French Gates or anyone else who catches my attention for being mesmerising or inspirational!
What tracks do you listen to for some seriously good vibes?
Far too many to mention! LCD Soundsystem, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Talking Heads, The Liars all make it onto my high energy playlists.
What's something everyone should know about Dear Green?
That our coffee is incredibly delicious and has been since since 2011! (insider information!)
