It's no secret that we're passionate about putting people and the planet over profit. In fact, we're leading the charge when it comes to building an environmentally conscious and people focussed coffee company.
This means taking responsibility for our environmental impact, and that doesn’t mean offsetting our emissions, but actively working to reduce these emissions, with the goal of achieving NetZero by 2030. We also work to create an inclusive and nurturing environment, where our people feel empowered and valued.
As part of our ongoing environmental strategy, we have joined 1% for the Planet. This means we have committed to donating 1% of our annual turnover to accredited local environmental projects.
Having bonded over a shared love of the outdoors, and realising their responsibility to protect the planet, 1% for the Planet was created in 2002 by Yvon Chouinard (founder of Patagonia) and Craig Matthews (founder of Blue Ribbon Flies). Not long after their inception, 1% for the Planet's mission began to resonate around the world, quickly gaining momentum as other like minded brands joined the movement.
So far we‘ve donated to several local environmental projects including, Washhouse Garden in Parkhead (We donate our coffee chaff to this project too), Greenheart Growers, Locavore CIC and hope to donate to Bute Forest in the very near future. We’ve also donated to World Coffee Research to help fund their ongoing projects at origin.
We are proud to form part of this collective of like-minded brands, and recognise that we must protect the resources that form the very fabric of our business. After all, why should we take from the planet, without giving back.
